The Hot Plate Analgesia Meter is used to evaluate thermal pain relfex due to footpad contact with heated surface. During the experiments, the animal is confined in a clear, cylinder (included) where the latency to the first hind paw and/or jump response is recorded.
This unit features a thick aluminum plate that is 10mm that provides a high temperature stability and even surface temperature distribution. The plate temperature can be held at a set point between 45 and 62? C (?-0.1?C). A built-in timer and external footswitch allows precise measurement of reaction time. Reaction time is displayed on the LCD screen within the control unit, but also saved through the included software for data acquisition. Trial number, plate temperature, and reaction time are all recorded as well as displayed.
